If you’d have seen Darren Aronosfy’s The Fountain, the whole movie revolves around the inability of the protagonist to grasp with the concept of losing a loved one and doing everything to fight that reality.
That’s where Arrival marks a much more mature decision of zen like acceptance in the face of fate. I loved the movie for how that wasn’t blown out of proportion.
