The article makes a really valid point about losing the value of an original story in todays world of rehashes and reboots. I’ve touched up on this topic in my own post at times cause it is something that bothers me a lot.
I think the greater problem we have now are no the ones which are at the top or the bottom of the list, but the middle that keeps expanding.
The era of passable films making it through by not being bad, with derived IPs injecting some sense of familiarity and just keeping the raft afloat. The sea of superhero Marvel movies is an example.
And the bad movies getting worse is a bit subjective, so that’s a tough call to make. I feel the Fast and the furious is today’s 80s pulp action genre. Just that its easier to hate.
